Located in western Uganda near Fort Portal, Kibale covers 795 square kilometers of lush tropical forest and is famously known as the “Primate Capital of the World.” It’s home to 13 species of primates, including over 1,500 chimpanzees, making it the best place in East Africa for chimpanzee trekking.
But Kibale is more than just chimps. It’s a biodiversity hotspot teeming with rare monkeys, forest elephants, colorful butterflies, and over 370 species of birds — including the sought-after green-breasted pitta.
